End of the Year

One last entry for this year… Thank you to everyone for all of your support.

The library was able to get more feedback this year than ever! Your surveys were extremely helpful and will be tallied and analyzed in the upcoming weeks.

Remember to check for updates on the main LMC page this summer about Summer Reading.

Also remember, just because its summer doesn’t mean it’s a break from reading. Your librarians at the public library are expecting you; I put in a good word for you myself. So let’s continue to feed our brains so they don’t turn to mush over the next 2 months.

I wish you many adventures in reading… until we meet again in September…

Miss Soroko :)

Library Survey

It’s nearing the end of the school year and I am asking for EVERYONE’s help!

Teachers- I need your input on policies and procedures this year, technology at hand, and the collection at large. You received your library survey on Friday. Please stop by the LMC sometime this week to drop off your filled out surveys. There is a drop box labeled “Faculty” on the counter outside Miss Soroko’s office.

Students- I need your help! I want to know what books you love, and what types of books you would like to see more of. Tell me who your favorite authors and illustrators are, and tell me why. If you are interested in helping Miss Soroko out for next year, come to the LMC and take a yellow survey and a pencil. When you are finished, drop the survey in the “Students” drop box at the circulation desk.

I hope to hear from everyone!

Let’s make our library even better…

*Find out why Miss Soroko loves this spoon!

New Software Update

This reminder goes out to all students and staff of Cherry Tree Elementary School

We now have the updated version of World Book Kids 2009 in the Library Media Center.

This is a fabulous research database tool and companion to our written encyclopedia collection. This version is laid out differently than the previous World Book 2004 version and has some different applications as well.

Make sure to stop by the LMC if you have some free time to check it out.

We now have thousands of new topics to search through and hundreds of new pictures.

This is a resource definitely worth your time.
Miss Soroko gives it an A+

:)

On your mark…get set…GO!

It’s that time of year again. The Reading Olympics for Cherry Tree Elementary have begun. All class statistics are displayed in the LMC. Come visit near the non-fiction section to check out the scores each day. All teams must also report to the LMC to get their team photo taken.

Photographs and scores will be updated daily on the official scoreboard.

Students- Make sure to submit all your reading logs to your teacher each day in the morning
Teachers-Make sure Miss Soroko has all current information via drop box or email

Best of luck to all!

And as always, enjoy yourselves…

Author Visit

Next Week the Cherry Tree LMC is proud to announce our author visit. We will be joined by children’s author Lisa Campbell Ernst.

Lisa Campbell Ernst has written and illustrated over twenty picture books, including Stella Louella's Runaway Book, which won the Children's Choice Award in Kansas, and the ever-popular Sam Johnson and the Blue Ribbon Quilt.

Be sure to visit the LMC this week to get all the details on her upcoming visit.

*Lisa’s books are on display in the middle island of the library. Ask Miss Soroko if you need some assistance.

See you soon :)

Anniversary

This Wednesday marks the 8th anniversary of the Cherry Tree Library Media Center. All day on Wednesday come visit the LMC for a celebration. Stop by during lunch for some snacks and enjoy read-alouds during recess from some special surprise guests!

Make sure to stop by the Circulation Desk to find the Memory Box. Write your favorite memory from the Cherry Tree LMC and submit it in the box. All entries will be created into a bulletin board.

See you Wednesday…bring your smiles!
